Stop smoking this Wednesday for national No Smoking Day
by William HobsonThis Wednesday will be the perfect opportunity to give up a tobacco habit, as the national No Smoking Day campaign enters its 27th year.
The campaign brings together charities and government health organisations to encourage people to stop smoking. Hypnotherapy, charity pledges, even nicotine replacement - the charity advises smokers to seek assistance to help give up the habit.
Duncan Bannatyne, president of the No Smoking Day charity and famed for his participation in BBC's Dragons Den, said: "Quitting smoking isn't always easy. Most of the nine million UK smokers say they'd like to quit and many have tried to stop several times over the last year. If you've tried and failed a few times, don't give up hope. You'll find few ex-smokers that quit the habit on their first attempt."
This year, the campaign is supported by a social media campaign hosted on website www.wequit.co.uk. A Facebook page invites people to create rewards for success, forfeits for failure or to raise money for charity with a sponsored quit. The NHS has also launched a free app for the iPhone and iPod touch that provides support messages during the first 30 days of stopping, tracking how long you've been "smoke free" as well as how much money you have saved by not buying cigarettes.
Organisers claim that over 2 million smokers are ready to "stub it out for good". If you want to join them, Wednesday is the ideal day to sign up for stop smoking hypnotherapy treatments and get help in removing the psychological reasons behind this addictive and destructive habit.
