Stop smoking this year, through hypnotherapy
by Tanisha SakhawatNew years resolutions are seeing more people quit smoking through hypnotherapy. Research from New Scientist has found that hypnotherapy is the most effective way to give up smoking. The research consisted of studies into the success rates of different methods to stop smoking, and hypnotherapy came out top.
Another US study looked into every method, from gum and nicotine patches, to willpower. Its conclusion was "Hypnosis came out as the most effective anti-smoking technique," says hypnotherapist Kathy Miller.
Scientists and researchers around the world continue to provide vital evidence that cigarette smoking causes permanent damage to the heart, lungs and generally to your health. People become addicted to smoking due to the endorphins that are triggered by nicotine in the system, which create a very real feeling of relaxation that is highly habit forming. Hypnotherapy is effective in re-programming your sub conscious, making you feel no need to smoke.
Ms Miller explains that hypnotherapy is a perfectly natural state of deep relaxation, sometimes mistakenly thought of as sleep, unconsciousness, or losing control. It is a way of isolating and focusing totally on a particular problem.
There is no loss of consciousness and there is no loss of control. Hypnosis is now recognised by the medical profession as a powerful tool which is complementary, not alternative, to medicine.
A stop smoking session lasts around an hour and one session is usually all it takes to quit smoking completely.
