Hypnotherapy to help celebrity quitters
by Sarah HowardCelebrities such as Chloe Madeley, Derek Acorah, Linda Robson, John Burton Race and Paul Danan have agreed to take part in a 10 episode channel Five reality TV show 'Celebrity Quitters', airing weeknights at 7.30pm.
The show will follow the five celebrities as they attempt to kick their smoking habit using a variety of different methods, from nicotine patches to stop smoking hypnotherapy.
It is not the first time people in the public eye have turned to hypnotherapy to help them quit nicotine. Charlize Theron, Matt Damon, Courtney Cox and Kevin Costner have all attributed their quitting to utilising stop smoking hypnotherapy.
Derek Acorah, TV psychic of ‘Most Haunted’ fame, who recently attempted a live séance with the late Michael Jackson, identified himself as the heaviest smoker in the group, getting through 40 – 50 cigarettes a day.
‘Birds of a Feather’ actress Linda Robson admitted recently starting smoking again after having given up for nearly twenty years, whilst Danan found out that his lung age was 15 years older than his actual age. Robson said of the show: ‘Like most smokers, I’ve tried to give up many times with varying degrees of success. But this time, I’m hoping I’ll be able to kick the habit for good’.
The programme will be sponsored by the NHS smokefree service who encourage viewers to follow the celebrities lead in quitting their fincially tying and unhealthy habit.
